This bull has a strange antler configuration. Six on the right, and two on the left. His left side is a big spike, then a smaller spike coming out the side of his head.

Cool Tree

I thought this tree was neat looking, so I set the camera up to get a picture with it in the background. I got some, and then this troublemaker spike started in on my camera with his muzzle and horns. The tree I had the camera tied to was too big for my cable lock to go around so I used rope instead. With the rope, the camera isn't tight to the tree and by the time the elk was done with it the camera was 90 degrees off from it's original azimuth (as shown in the second photo). I think this is the same spike from my post dated June 26, 2007.

This is about the smallest buck I have got on camera.
I put out all my cameras today and am gonna try to leave them for two or three weeks.
Hope to have some better pics next month.

Not much to show for this year so far. Looks like the deer were really holed up during the last storm. This little buck is about all I had worth posting.

3 Bulls

These 3 bulls have all rubbed the velvet off they're antlers.
I thought it pretty rare to get three bulls lined up all in one photo.

Got some pics of these two different bulls. I have two other cams that will get checked sometime soon and hope to get some other elk on them. I rained pretty good today up in the higher elevations when we were getting the cameras. We sure need the rain due to fire danger. It's very crunchy up there.

I put this camera on a deers bed to see what would happen.
She went ahead and laid down for about an hour as the flash kept going off.
Total flashes were about 70 before she finally had enough.

I set this camera up for some bear pics and got quite a few. After a few days of the camera flashing him, he came from the back side and tilted the camera with what I think is his paw.
That was the only pic that day and the last pic of him.
Not a scratch on the camera luckily.

Furfindr

I got a furfindr which is a little device that makes noises which sound like little furry animals being tortured. This brings in predators looking to eat these tasty critters. Here is my first pic with the aid of the furfindr -a coyote looking at the furfindr which is up in the tree.

Here is a new camera I just built.
I used liquid nails for the 3D camo.
For the color, I used twisted up masking tape and sprayed the different colors.

My Aunt saw some wood ducks in one of her trees, so I put a camera up in the tree to see if I could get a photo of them.

Every time I get cow elk coming by the camera, they have to sniff it and fog up the lens. Even with rainX and fogX on the glass, they still fog it up. Kinda makes me mad cause this time I would of had some pretty good pics if they weren't all FOGGED UP !!.
I had to edit this lower pic pretty heavily to get it to show up. Notice the elk on the far slope in the background.

Went out and checked the p32 today and it did not have one picture on it - only us leaving after setting it up last week, and us approaching it as we were checking it. We moved it a few hundred yards to what looked like a better trail. Set the new p41 out today for the first time in a different area. Maybe I'll have some pics next week.

Captured a couple of pics of theses two foxes tonight with the new setup. I don't know if it's mating season for foxes or what, but these two are acting kind of funny -sniffing around each other. I am really having fun getting these pics.

Just finished my newest trail camera today. I will not get to put it out for a few days, but did test it on some birds. It is a sony 4.1 megapixel camera controlled by a Snap shot sniper control board.

Here is my first good photo of a grey fox. I got a picture of him a few weeks ago, but my camera was placed at the base of the tree and he was too close to see anything but fur.

I was wondering how the camera would do with small animals like birds and such so I put out some cracked corn and oats behind the house and put the camera on the ground next to it. I think it did pretty well. I don't know what kinds of birds these are.

I am really thinking about building another one of these home brew cameras and getting rid of the Cuddeback IR camera. The home brew takes much better pictures, and takes them faster sequentially.

I have just put together a new trail camera. Here are some photos of it. I got the information from www.pixcontroller.com. Basically, I bought the sony camera and connected some wires to it so it could be hooked to the motion sensor board. Again, all the info is on pixcontroller.

I put the camera up just a few miles from the house hoping to get some pictures of deer.

I only got one photo and this was it. I didn't even think there were elk in the area.

This is my first picture of a bull elk. He looks kinda goofy. There were four pictures of him on the camera as he went walking by slowly and stopped to eat.
